Description

Peony Flowers Clay Painting

The Peony flowers clay painting on the teapot involves the use of various colours of Yixing clay pigments, processed into a thin paint. The paint is than applied onto the teapot with a brush. Details are carved with special tools to give the painting a strong sense of three-dimensionality and a dynamic presence, making it a work of art on its own. And when paired with the symbolic significance of peonies, known as the ‘king of flowers’ in Chinese culture, this teapot becomes a true treasure embodying fullness, affection, wealth and elegance.

Yixing Artist – Rao Qing

Crafted by an up-and-coming Yixing artist – Rao Qing, who hails from a family of traditional Yixing artists, this teapot is not just visually stunning but also carries the legacy of centuries-old Chinese tea culture. Her works are inspiring, traditional yet unique, with a delicate and elegant aesthetic.

Original Purple Clay

This teapot is made from purple clay ore from the Huanglong Mountain in Yixing. The ore is purple-brown in appearance and relatively hard, containing small fragments of white mica, with lime green and purple-black streaks. After firing, the clay turns dark brown-purple, with a refined grain texture and a bright colour.
