This tea pet has been sculpted from authentic Yixing Duan Ni clay, which is renowned for its distinctive texture and earthy hues. In Chinese culture, the gourd (hulu) is a powerful symbol of good fortune, protection and positive energy attraction. This symbolism comes from the fact that “hulu” sounds similar to “fulu (福禄)”, meaning blessings and prosperity. In addition, the gourd shape, which houses many seeds, represents the wish for a flourishing family and an abundant life. At last, the gourd is also associated with warding off misfortune and attracting blessings to the home.
This piece is a work of art, with remarkable, lifelike detail. The natural Duan Ni clay has been expertly selected to perfectly mimic the golden colour of a ripe gourd.
