Description

In the 50s, a tea expert named Mr. Yao Yue started a laboratory to examine the stems of a 800 year old Da Hong Pao bush. The result was the cultivation of a new tea plant on the Bei Dou Peak in Wuyishan during the 80s. The plant got named after the peak and is officially known as ‘Bei Dou Yi Hao’ or ‘North Star No. 1’.

Unlike other flowery types of Wuyi Rock teas, such as the Shui Xian and Huang Jin Gui, this Bei Dou oolong has more pronounced woody and fruity notes. Due to its low roasting level, the typical mineral notes of yan cha are perfectly balanced resulting in a medium thick and smooth infusion. Enjoy this tea in multiple sessions to experience the layered flavours. They transform incredibly from fruity in the beginning to more flowery in the later steeps.
