White Jade Duan Clay
White jade duan ni clay is a rare type of duan ni clay. It is as white as jade, hence its name. It has the texture of traditional purple clay (zisha) and is very breathable. Teapots made from it allow the tea leaves to retain their own flavor and are particularly suitable for brewing black teas such as Jin Jun Mei, Lapsang and Keemun.
Stacking-relief Painting Style
The art on the body of the teapot is applied with layers of zisha paste. The thickness of the clay gives it a strong sense of three-dimensionality. The painting is elegant with amazing details, showing the skill of the artist.
By pouring water/tea over the body of the teapot, the relief effect of the bird and flowers is accentuated and brought to life.
Magpies and Plum Blossoms
Magpies and plum blossoms complement each other as auspicious traditional Chinese motifs. The Chinese word for magpie (pinyin: xi que) means a bird that brings good news. The magpie, the embodiment of luck, is on a branch of the plum blossoms, signifying that good things are coming!
