Description
A finely handmade ‘Tenmoku Chawan’ or also known as ‘Jian Yao Tea Bowl’. Jian ware originates from the Song Dynasty period in China. During the Ming Dynasty, the emperor Yongle offered ten pieces of Jian ware to Ashikaga Yoshimitsu (1358-1408), a Shogun who ruled Japan during the Muromachi period. In Japan, Jian ware is known as ‘Tenmoku’.
This masterpiece is hand made and finished with rose gold coloured layer of ceramic glaze. It’s flawless as it’s fired in a dragon furnace that was built as according to the requirements of the emperor during the Song Dynasty.
