Lao Tong Zhi is a brand name of the Haiwan Tea Factory (or “Haiwan Tea Industry”). When literally translated it means “Old Friends” or “Old Comrades”.
The recipe used for this cake is from 1999 hence the first two digits are ’99’. The third number ‘6’ represents the grade/size of the leaves and the last digit ‘8’ represents factory (Haiwan Tea Industries). This pu erh tea is Halal certified.
